Welcome to the Revolution

There have been, over the last few years a huge expansion in the number of sites that claim to be ‘community’ based. This in fact is not completely accurate. Most of these sites are narrowly focused. Taking one particular aspect, be it videos, music or chat and trying to build a community feeling around that.

Another problem is that these sites seem to feel that they have to give little or no explanation as to how to navigate your way around them. The simple task of building a profile page is, in most cases, not simple at all and can become so complicated that it can put potential members off.

Also some ‘community’ sites now charge users for sending virtual cards and presents to other users.

Then in a lot of chat based sites a new user will find that he or she will be ignored when they first go in to chat rooms. The attitude that ‘you’re new so who are you?’ pervades these sites and it can be such a struggle to climb the established pecking order that many simply give up.

Also you have to be very Internet savvy to be able to work out which sites can best provide you with the facilities that you require. So you have one site to do this and another to do that.

Another HUGE problem is that of content. Most sites that show videos don’t screen that content before it goes live, thus allowing deeply inappropriate material to be shown.
Does anyone out there believe it is right that someone being viciously assaulted and filmed on a mobile phone should be posted on any website?
Well apparently a lot of sites do.

You only have to go to some of the bigger video based sites and search for ‘happy slaps’, a disgusting euphemism, and you will see thousands of these degrading videos.

Then there is that trick that a lot of sites pull. How many times have you gone to a site that shouts ‘Join us, everything is free’. So you sign up only to find that the ‘free’ was not quite the truth and in some cases a downright lie.

But despite all this, these sites remain popular, not because they are the answer but purely because there is absolutely nowhere else to go!

Well that has just changed forever.
There is a new player in town! www.kevado.com.

The team who put together this incredible website looked long and hard at these problems and came up with a site that brings all the elements that a true online community might need into one unique website.

  • You can chat in various rooms to likeminded people.

  • Post and watch videos.

  • Create a huge profile page.

  • Keep a blog (diary)and post stories, comments and articles on a wide variety of forums.

  • You have a mailbox to send and receive post from other members.

The site also has a truly comprehensive search engine so you can find other members with exactly similar interests to you.
You can even send a wide range of greetings cards for birthdays, anniversaries etc. And by the way, they are really free!
Never before have all these features been brought together in one place. The site will even provide you with a list of potential friends with similar interests.

So it has all the features that you need on one site. BUT is it safe and is it really free? The simple answer is yes.

No content of any kind goes live until it has been checked first. Inappropriate content is simply deleted and so never sees the light of day. This applies not only to video but also to content posted on a member’s personal profile page.

Sara Hildebrandt, a co-founder of the site told me “One of our aims was to create a site that is safe for everyone. Our membership starts at sixteen years of age and ranges up to the mid seventies and we have no desire whatsoever to expose them to bullying, sexist, racist or religious intolerance or any forms of violence. Members can be assured that the content they see on www.kevado.com will always be completely appropriate."

So safe yes, but free?

This is what Sara had to say,

“Everything on kevado.com is free and will remain so. Registration is required but that is for the protection of members and for no other reason. Yes, we have adverts on the site but members are under absolutely no obligation to click on them."

Having been on the site I can tell you that it is indeed different to the ordinary ‘community’ website. It’s bright and breezy and a lot fun. It’s packed with features, some very advanced but there are lots of hits and tips to help you along and so you are never left scratching your head as you are all too often left doing on other sites.

Membership at the time of writing this, is relatively small but once word gets out that kevado.com is here, I confidently predict that membership will rocket.

So check out www.kevado.com and become part of the revolution.
